Pregnancy Facts
Warning Signs or Reasons to Call your provider:
- Bleeding or cramping
- Gush of fluid from vagina or breaking your bag of water
- Headache that does not resolve with rest, Tylenol, or eating
- Urinary frequency, pain, burning, or lower back pain
- Fever - over 101°
- Severe or prolonged nausea and vomiting - 12 hrs. or longer-frequent dizzy spells
- Falls or trauma to the abdomen
- Any serious concerns
Hazards to avoid in pregnancy:
- Unnecessary X-Rays
- Cigarettes, Alcohol and Drugs (Social or Over-the-Counter)
- Hot tubs and saunas
- Chemicals and fumes
- Caffeine
- Kitty Litter
Nausea and Vomiting in Pregnancy:
- Eat small frequent meals every 2 hrs.- 2 to 3 of carbohydrates & proteins are best
- Dry crackers before getting up in the morning
- Avoid foods with strong or offensive odors
- Increase rest - try to nap every day
- You may try wrist bands for sea sickness, available at boating stores
- At bedtime you can try: ½ unisom tablet or, you can try 100mg B6 twice a day or your provider may prescribe Pyridox Plus for you (combining B6 & unisom) or other anti-nausea medications
- If you are vomiting more than 5 or 6 times a day, you may need to come in and receive IV hydration. Give the clinic a call.
